WHAT IS AN ENDANGERED SPECIE?
An endangered
species is a species which has been categorized as
very likely to become extinct in the near future.
Endangered , as categorized by the International Union for Conservation of Nature. Red List, is the second most severe conservation status for wild populations
in the IUCN's schema after Critically Endangered
Many nations have laws that protect conservation-reliant species:
for example, forbidding hunting, restricting land development or creating protected
areas. Population numbers, trends and species' conservation status can be found
at the lists of
organisms by population.
CHARACTERISTICS
koalas are mammals, and
they have round, fuzzy ears and look cute and cuddly, like a
teddy bear. Koalas look soft, but their fur feels like the
coarse wool of a sheep. The koala eats eucalyptus
Koalas live in Australia
and Victoria in the eucalyptus forests and woodlands. They live in
eucalyptus trees and spend most of their time wedged between forks in the
tree's branches.
CAUSES OF ENDANGERMENT
A threatened species is any
species susceptible to extinction in the near future.
The koala are endangered due
to sexually transmitted diseases and drought. . Its natural predators are the
dingos, owls, eagles, strands, vultures and python snakes. Also the times of
drought and the fires are dangerous. For decades its population has been
declining due to urban sprawl, car accidents, and dog attacks. Other main
causes of the extinction of the koalas is the hunting by its fur which is very
soft, brown or grey Platinum makes its
sale like pieces of
collection or to manufacture expensive coats. The Koala is in danger of
extinction by hunting, to obtain from them its fur, since it is very soft brown
or grey platinum. This Koala fur sells it as collectibles and to manufacture
expensive coats.
HOW CAN WE HELP
To help the koalas we can:
-Protect the habitats where
koalas live as people destroy them quite easily
-Don’t cut all the tres of a
forest because Koalas live in trees and when forests are cut down, they lose their homes. It is not
strange that the trees are cut with the animals still living in them.
Apparently, in many aspects there is no respect for their lives. They are seen
as an obstacle, rather than something that should be protected.
-Don’t cut the eucalyptus
trees because it is the main food of the koalas and they will become extinct
too if they don’t have nothing to eat.
-Don’t cause forest fires
because these animals lose their home.
There are many experts who
believe that the koala will become extinct in the next 30 years if measures are
not taken urgently.
